About us
Oakland Museum of California
The mission of the Oakland Museum of California is to inspire all Californians to create a more vibrant future for themselves and their communities.
OMCA nurtures its deep ties to the community by offering many educational and outreach programs. We welcome schools, scholars, local audiences, and all visitors to participate in our events and activities and to discover their place in California's past, present, and future.
Summer 2018 Camp: This summer, explore Oakland with OMCA! Inspired by California’s urban artists, this summer camp encourages kids ages 8–12 to investigate and capture the world around them. Let your child’s creative side shine while discovering the power of Hip-Hop, murals, and screen printing inspired by special exhibition RESPECT: Hip-Hop Style & Wisdom. Campers will make their own posters, check out the Bay Area’s mural scene, and curate an exhibit together.
Take advantage of all of OMCA’s exhibitions, gardens, and the surrounding Lake Merritt neighborhood. Camps are led by professional museum educators and each day will include outdoor exploration and art-making activities.
